Abstract Expressionism was born in the 1940’s in lower Manhattan. Fred Dixon will present a documentary style lecture on the lives and art of the early champions of the movement – Jackson Pollock and his wife Lee Krasner, Willemm and Elaine de Kooning and two younger members Grace Hartigan and Helen Frankenthaler. Hear how art took over their lives and how none of them gave a whit about conventional mores.
