Dana McKay will be showing her Lyrical Abstract Expressionistic work in the windows of the Art Alliance for the month of September. Dana McKay grew up learning from her talented family of artists, writers, photographers, musicians and inventors and became interested in drawing, painting and photography at a very early age. Over the years, she experimented with various art forms; from lettering and layout and illustration at the Art Students League; fashion design for a department store; oil paintings, watercolors and portraits under her artist-father’s guidance; and eventually Graphic Design and Photography studies at Brookdale Community College where she worked as a graphic designer of 23 years. In addition to her career, she was always designing and making jewelry; sculpting; colored pencil drawing; and now, Lyrical Abstract Expressionism using acrylics.
Dana has won four JSPRAA awards, two of them for photography. For six years, she co-chaired, then chaired the Brookdale Annual Alumni Association Juried Art Show, and has exhibited in many other Monmouth and Bergen County shows. She is also an active member of The Art Allianc where she serves on their Board of Trustees.
The main gallery of the Art Alliance will Exhibit work by members on the theme Now.
An Artists’ Reception will be held Saturday, September 8, from 6-8 PM. Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend. The exhibition is on view September 8-October 2, Tuesday – Saturday, 12-4 PM. Free of charge. Art Alliance of Monmouth County, 33 Monmouth Street, Red Bank, NJ.

Founded in 1978, the Art Alliance of Monmouth County is dedicated to promoting the advancement of the visual arts and providing exhibition, studio, and classroom space to local artists. New members are always welcome.
Membership in the Art Alliance is open to visual artists at any skill level and to art lovers. Membership fee is $40 per year, $25 for students with ID. Benefits of membership include reduced entry fee for all exhibits ($5 per piece for up to 3 pieces for members; $10 per piece for non-members); affordable studio space; diverse classes and workshops; networking opportunities; the possibility of mounting an independent exhibit during the summer. In addition, the Art Alliance maintains a website, a bi-monthly newsletter, and a Facebook page.
