Nathaniel Nyok was 8 years old when he left war-torn Sudan for a refugee camp thousands of miles away in Ethiopia. For 15 years he fought for his future, eventually making it to the United States.
In his memoir, “Days of Refugee: One of the World’s Lost Boys of the Sudan,” Nathaniel explores his time as an orphaned refugee living in a Displaced Persons Camp in Ethiopia, his choice to put education first, and his experience immigrating to the United States.
This event is $10 per person, free to Brookdale CC Students & Chhange Members. Copies of “Days of Refugee” will be available for purchase & signing. This is a part of Chhange’s Survivor Speaker Series, celebrating Chhange’s 40th Anniversary. You can learn more and register for this event at www.chhange.org!
