Two prominent historians and authors, Joseph Bilby and Dr. David Martin, will discuss the treatment of soldiers and veterans during the Founding Era. Our speakers will read letters to and from soldiers during the Revolutionary War.

Our speakers: Joseph Bilby served as a lieutenant in the First Infantry Division in Vietnam. He is the author of several books, including “Remember Fontenoy” and “A History of Submarine Warfare Along the Jersey Shore.” He is also an Assistant Curator at the National Guard Militia Museum.
Dr. David Martin is the author of over 20 books on the civil War and Revolution. From Michigan, he received his doctorate from Princeton. He is president of the Friends of Monmouth Battlefield.

“Revisiting the Founding Era” is a three-year national initiative of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, in partnership with the American Library Association and the National Constitution Center and supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Monmouth County Library in Manalapan is one of only 100 libraries across the country to be selected for the program.

Program is free for all to attend. More information is available on social media @MonColibrary and our website: www.MonCoLibrary
