Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s repertoire is a celebration of the diversity of influences and perspectives on Mexican culture. It is also a tapestry of stories- joyous, passionate, melancholic, ritualistic, humorous, inspiring- that represent our community, our families, our cultural legacy. The repertoire includes folk traditions and original creations both choreographic and musical continuously developed through a collaborative process among many artists. Since 2003, the company focuses primarily on folkloric dances and songs, employing classical and contemporary movement and dance theatre to tell its stories. Calpulli seeks to create artistic works that bring audiences to see the glorious beauty of our culture through our eyes, feet, and rhythms.
