Ahoy history buffs and sea lovers! As the Jersey Shore springs back to life, the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society is relaunching Jersey Journeys. Once again, we are partnering with Captain Dan Schade and Classic Boat Rides for a private 3-hour charter cruise on Sandy Hook Bay. Join us at 12 PM on Saturday, August 14 to relax, escape the heat, and enjoy a light lunch on the Navesink Queen, a vintage paddle-wheel boat, originally from Virginia. Acclaimed journalist and historian Muriel Smith, author of many books about New Jersey history, will share legends, lore and true stories about the Jersey Shore. Cost is $50 per person and includes lunch. A cash bar will offer libations, bottled water and soda. No coolers or outside beverages are permitted. Boarding begins at 11:30 a.m. for a prompt noon departure from Atlantic Highlands Marina, Franks’s Pier, slip 65. Advance payment is required. For tickets, visit our online gift shop or send a check payable to Atlantic Highlands Historical Society, Box 108, Atlantic Highlands, N.J., 07716. (Rain date: Saturday, September. 11)
