We celebrate Women’s History Month with ‘We are Present and Future Women: The Freehold Young Ladies Seminary, 1845-1898,’ given by the foremost expert on this nearly-forgotten institution, Bernadette Rogoff. Bernadette is MCHA’s Director of Collections and has been curating Monmouth County history for three decades. She is well known for her breadth of knowledge and natural storytelling ability, so prepare to be entertained! She will introduce you to Achsah, a brilliant and world-renowned mathematician; Annie, an influential suffragist and close colleague of Margaret Sanger; Emily, creator of the American Kindergarten system; Adeline, a rare female in the field of 19th-century journalism and the first woman to run for NJ State Senate, and many more of the incredible, pioneering ladies of FYLS.
